ANDY-RED, ESSEX RDC and SUPREM stand out as daughter proven bulls
As the highest OHG sire remains SUPREM with an improvement to RZG 150/+2. The Superhero son is not only by far the highest milk improver within the top of the German top list. With his increase to RZN 134/+10, SUPREM (A2/A2, BB) also reaches a top value for longevity. His daughters are also appreciated for their rear leg setting, their wide rumps and long teats.
The very popular ESSEX RDC also leaves outstanding daughters. At the Osnabrueck breeding cattle auction in August 2022, his 11 daughters were 200 EUR above the auction average. The predominantly black animals impress with their style, mobility and outstanding udder quality. With more than 250 daughters, he was able to increase his breeding value for milk by 160 kg and especially for udder quality, so that with RZE 127 he ranks in 2nd place of all OHG bulls for conformation (behind ADLON P). ESSEX (A2/A2, BB) is also by far the highest OHG health sire (RZhealth 122) with well above-average values for RZudderfit, RZhoof and RZrepro. The good milking speed and longevity of his daughters as well as his own good fertility (+4% NR) complete the picture of this perfect allrounder. Due to his Red Factor and pedigree (Esperanto x Filou x Maddock), the bull can be used very widely.
The Federal son FELIX (A2/A2, BB, aAa 534) remains stable with unchanged RZG 141, although he was able to improve by +3 RZM for production and +2 RZE for conformation, especially for body capacity (+5). The calving ease sire also impresses with his enormous daughter fertility (RZR 127) and longevity (RZN 122). Now with 200 daughters, the protein sire GYPSY (A2/A2) was able to improve to RZG 136/+4. MISTER P reached the same result as the highest daughter proven polled bull. The former list leader SINUS (BB) also reached RZG 136, whereas the robot bull ALAMO (A2/A2, BB) was almost able to draw level with RZG 135/+2. The two full brothers ROYCE and ROLLS as well as ADLON P, known for top conformation, components, RZR 128, +5% NR, rank almost unchanged and are all in the range of RZG 130 to 132. At the same high level, another newcomer, the Malinus son MARLEY, was able to start with a rock solid result.
The highlight of the daughter proven bulls is certainly the confirmation of the 3rd place for the Red Holstein bull ANDY-RED (A2/A2, aAa 513). In April he had achieved this on the basis of only 27 daughters, but now with over 250 daughters he was able to increase 400 kg in milk with extremely good components and expand his breeding value to RZG 147/+7. With his easy calvings and good sire fertility (+4% NR) he is extremely popular. In the Netherlands ANDY-RED ranks also very high with his first daughters (#4 with NVI 277/+41).
Also the entry of the homozygous polled bull MIX-RED PP with RZG 124 is quite solid and above his previous purely genomic breeding value.
Genomic list is dominated by many young newcomers
The actual genomic top list in Germany is dominated by many new names. Among the top 10 are 8 newcomers, all of whom were born between mid-July and the end-September, so their first semen will become available only in the next few weeks/months. The highest OHG sire in the German genomic list remains the outcross bull SUNRISE (A2/A2, BB) with currently gRZG 158/-1 and top values for production and health. Shortly behind follows already PRIME (A2/A2, BB, aAa 315), with the combination Proximo (Prosperous) x Hagar (Ragen) also an outcross bull. This bull does not show any weaknesses in any segment, for example he combines very fast milking speed (RZD 118) with outstanding mastitis resistance (RZudderfit 114). The next high-ranking OHG genomic bulls had only small changes: MIRCO 154 (-1), BELUGA 154 (+1), CALVIN 152 (-1), SUNSET 152 (-1), RADIUS 151 (-2), then CARUSO, the No. 1 for daughter fertility with gRZR 129 and RZRepro 112, SIMBA P, METRO with RZG 150, followed by SUSSEX, SUNNY P, SOLIST and PAOLO. The popular allrounder and conformation improver GENIUS ranks absolutely stable with gRZG 147 and gRZE 136 – only surpassed by SKETCH with gRZG 147 and gRZE 138. However, the measure of all things in conformation remains the specialist GIGANT as number 1 for conformation with gRZE 144, udder 142, feet & legs 123 and number 1 with RZhealth 126.
