The new August breeding values are here: MILO makes his mark

The new breeding values are now available as we head into this summer week. The breeding value evaluation for August 2026 is based on all cows born between May 2020 and April 2023. Due to the rolling base adjustment, an average genetic progress of 1.4 RZG points, 80 RZEuro points and 40 kg of milk has been deducted at this evaluation.

Daughter proven bulls

The results of the summer breeding value evaluation once again confirm the outstanding quality of OHG genetics. In this evaluation, OHG bulls continue to prove themselves with their daughters, maintaining the positive trend seen in previous evaluations. Five OHG bulls rank among the Top 20, accounting for a quarter of the top positions. With a total of nine OHG bulls in the Top 50 of the Black & White ranking, this is a very encouraging result for our small but highly successful breeding programme.

The most exciting newcomer and, at the same time, the new No. 1 daughter-proven bull at OHG is the Migel son MILO. With an RZG of 141, he ranks 4th in the German Top List and also makes the Top 20 in Spain with an ICO of 1259. At +1,780 kg of milk, he delivers an impressive 73 kg of protein and promises persistent, high-performing daughters through the combination of good longevity (RZN 119) and high persistency (116). With his first 140 classified heifers, MILO has made another significant improvement in his udder breeding value, gaining a full 8 points. He also now receives a Robot breeding value of 108 and, with +4% NR, ranks among the top fertility bulls. Two further strong advantages that make MILO particularly interesting for repeating use.

MILO daughters

The highly popular MIRCO remains rock-solid at an RZG of 140. With more than 2,800 European daughters now contributing to his proof, he once again proves himself a safe bet for repeat use. Another Migel son, MIKE, follows with an RZG of 138. With his daughter count having increased tenfold, he confirms his high milk production of +2,398 kg as well as his excellent feet & legs (123) and udder (115) figures across the board

Another newcomer to the daughter-proven ranking is NEXO, the half-brother of MILO, with an RZG of 137. The Nexus son combines strong components (+0.21% protein and +0.23% fat) with an excellent feet & legs breeding value of 126 and slightly more set to the rear leg (112). He also offers good robot suitability (117) and outstanding fitness figures, with particular strengths in hoof health (RZHoof 116 and DDcontrol 116).

The OHG is also strongly represented in the Red & White segment, with three OHG bulls in the Top 20. SPOT-RED P stands at an RZG of 137 and, with +2,605 kg of milk, is the highest milk bull in the daughter-proven ranking. He is followed by ASCO-RED and MAGIC-RED, both at an RZG of 134. With his first daughters now contributing to his proof, the latter impressively confirms his strengths for type (RZE 120), particularly his outstanding udder score of 120.

Genomic Highlights

The old and new No. 1 at OHG is SURFSIDE. The SURFER son remains unchanged at an RZG of 157 in the August breeding value evaluation, confidently defending his top position. With an RZ€ of 3040, he is also the No. 1 economic bull at OHG. He is followed by MADDOX at RZG 155 and REWARD at RZG 154. The latter impressively brings out the strengths of his maternal grandsire SUNRISE and remains Germany’s clear No. 1 milk production specialist, with +2909 kg of milk.

Also at an RZG of 154 is the recently released AIRBORNE (Argentum x MILO x GENIUS). He not only delivers outstanding protein components (+0.29% protein), but is also a true fitness specialist: RZHealth 130, RZS 130 and RZN 133 speak for themselves. On top of this, he offers an excellent udder breeding value of 124, outstanding robot suitability (RZRobot 123) and aAa 345.

SURFWIND

SURFWIND is another exciting newcomer. The SURFER son stands at an RZG of 151 and combines high milk production (+1,898 kg) with more than 160 kg of fat and protein. He also features a highly balanced linear profile, reminiscent of his popular maternal grandsire GENIUS.

Popular especially among type enthusiasts, REBEL remains firmly among the top bulls with an RZG of 150 and is one of the highest-ranking type bulls with an RZE of 138. He is also highly sought after in France, where he maintains an ISU of 214 and a Morphologie score of 2.9. With +5% NR, he leads the OHG ranking of top fertility bulls.

He is followed by the absolute long-standing favourite NEXTLEVEL with an RZG of 149. With an RZRobot of 138, he remains Germany’s highest-ranking robot bull. His virtually flawless linear profile, with a feet & legs breeding value of 119 and an udder breeding value of 121, makes him an exceptionally versatile and highly sought-after OHG sire.

In the polled segment, SIXT P RDC stands at an RZG of 149 and combines good milk production (+1,665 kg) with an excellent health profile (RZHealth 124). Another exciting newcomer is the Shield son SUPA P RDC with an RZG of 144, who sets new standards for type with an outstanding RZE of 141.

The OHG is also strongly represented in the Red & White segment. READY-RED ranks at an RZG of 145, followed by CASH-RED P and SAMU-RED P, both at RZG 143, and the popular MEGA-RED P at RZG 142. The latter also impresses with an RZE of 129, continuing to offer attractive type for Red & White breeding.
