As 2025 draws to a close, the new December breeding values are now released. The basis for the December 2025 evaluation includes all cows born between September 2019 and August 2022. Due to the rolling base adjustment, this evaluation round reflects an average genetic progress of -1.5 RZG points and -45 kg milk.

Genomic Highlights – Take Your Herd to the Next Level

 The former No. 1 is also the new No. 1 at OHG: MADDOX. With 159 RZG, the Magello son remains firmly positioned in Germany’s genomic Top 15 and combines high component yields with an outstanding health profile (130 RZHealth), especially for udder health and fertility. MADDOX is also attracting strong attention in Scandinavia with 39 NTM.

NEXTLEVEL still our most in-demand genomic sire, loses only the obligatory single RZG point and now stands at 156 RZG. With his exceptionally well-balanced overall profile, he continues to impress Holstein breeders both in Germany and abroad. His robot-milking suitability remains outstanding: with 137 RZRobot, he continues to rank No. 1 in this trait – one of the key reasons why NEXTLEVEL enjoys strong popularity not only in Germany but also in countries such as Austria and Hungary.

REWARD (Real Syn x SUNRISE) is a maternal half-brother to NEXTLEVEL and also traces back to the well-known Batkes Outside Cora EX-94 family. Like his maternal grandsire SUNRISE, he is a true performance package and currently Germany’s No. 1 milk bull: +2,948 kg milk, +144 kg fat, +87 kg protein, and an impressive RZM of 158 speak for themselves.

Despite this exceptional production level, his health traits remain remarkably strong. With his conformation index of 126 and clear strengths in udder quality (129), REWARD also offers very good robot suitability (126 RZRobot) along with excellent milking speed (117 RZD).

One of the most exciting new entries in the Top 25 is SURFSIDE, now ranking 157 RZG. With his SURFER x Zivet pedigree, he brings welcome diversity to the currently very uniform bloodlines seen in the top list. On the maternal side, his pedigree continues with Pikachu x Swift x Dozer x Balisto, leading to the well-known Sandy Valley Nu Prescious VG-88 from the renowned Rudy Missy family. With +2,326 kg milk, clearly positive components (+0.27% fat, +0.05% protein) and a strong RZE of 125, SURFSIDE offers an outstanding overall package. His milking speed and robot suitability further round off the profile. SURFSIDE will be available soon – and is already attracting attention as a promising future sire of sons.

In the type segment, OHG newcomer REBEL (Real Syn x SUNRISE) immediately catches the eye, leading the RZE ranking as the No. 1 type bull with an impressive RZE of 142. His maternal line is equally noteworthy: his granddam BEY Highsociety VG-86 is a full sister to the proven OHG type sire SOLIST. The next dam, Benz High Five EX-93, is one of the highest-classified donor cows of the genomic era. The cow family then traces back through Lighter and Racer Hugo EX-94 to the Cookiecutter branch of the renowned SND Dellia family. REBEL combines outstanding scores for feet & legs (129) and udder (128) with solid milk yield, positive components, strong fitness traits, and excellent robot-milking suitability (129 RZRobot). At present, only limited individual doses are available for selected matings; broader availability is planned for the coming months.

 

Following him is CORMICK at 153 RZG, who also ranks among the Top 5 for type with an impressive 138 RZE. In addition to solid milk yield, he offers outstanding components (+0.27% fat, +0.24% protein) as well as very strong health traits.

The well-known OHG sires STITCH (152 RZG) and SKIP (151 RZG) also remain firmly positioned in the top group of bulls above 150 RZG.

The popular MIKE narrowly misses entering the daughter-proven list and now stands at 146 RZG. However, his first daughters made a very positive impression at the recent auction, achieving clearly above-average prices.

In the polled segment, SUBITO PP remains one of the most interesting homozygous polled sires. With 141 RZG, he combines solid milk production, strong type (127 RZE), easy calvings, and good milking speed (105 RZD. This makes him one of the most sought-after PP bulls currently available in Germany.

In the Red Holstein segment, MEGA-RED P stays firmly at the top with 149 RZG and 132 RZE, continuing to offer one of the most well-rounded overall packages in terms of production, fitness, and type among all red polled sires. His strong and consistent profile ensures that he will remain a highly popular choice.

Daughter Proven Sires

Among the daughter-proven bulls, MIRCO and SIMBA P both maintain their strong positions with 143 RZG, ranking 3rd and 4th on the German toplist. MIRCO’s breeding values are now supported by more than 1,700 daughters milked not only in Germany but also in Scandinavia, Italy, and Poland. His daughters continue to deliver exceptional breeder satisfaction: they combine high milk production with clearly positive components and outstanding type – especially their robot-friendly udders with real show-ring potential.

They are followed by the popular CARUSO, now at 139 RZG. He is a true power package, transmitting more width than stature (aAa 435). CARUSO offers attractive type, excellent udder quality, and strong robot suitability (116 RZRobot), all supported by his excellent dam, HGH Arabella EX-90.

A particular highlight remains his exceptional strength in daughter fertility: with an outstanding 139 RZR, CARUSO continues to be the undisputed No. 1 daughter-proven bull for fertility.

GENIUS – everybody’s darling and the most used bull in the OHG region last year – gains another point and now stands at 138 RZG. With more than 4,000 daughters in Germany, France, and Italy, he has proven himself to be an exceptionally reliable sire. His daughters are productive, strong-framed, robust, and present themselves well both in the barn and in the show ring.

Alongside these leading sires, the allrounder KENNY (134 RZG), the high-production bull METRO (134 RZG), and the type specialist SOLIST (133 RZG, 126 RZE, 129 udder) also remain solidly positioned within the Top 100.

 

In the Red Holstein ranking, ASCO-RED gains one RZG point to reach 136 RZG, maintaining his place in the Top 10. He improves slightly again in milk yield and continues to stand out with a fault-free overall profile. Within the Red Holstein Top 50, GARY-RED (135 RZG) and SIR-RED (126 RZG) also remain well represented.
