The last breeding value estimation in August was a remarkable success for the comparatively small OHG with 3 daughterproven bulls among the top 10. The current December breeding value estimation beats this result again with 5 bulls in the top 10 of the daughter tested bulls – 4 of these bulls even rank in the top 5!

OHG bulls in high numbers in the daughter-tested top list

Despite the rolling base adjustment (in December – 35 kg milk and -1.6 RZG), SUEZ was able to improve this time by 120 litres of milk and thus even relatively increase his RZG of 147. Our extremely popular all-rounder GENIUS climbs steadily up the list and is now in bronze place of all bulls. With > 1,000 daughters in Germany and another 600 in 4 countries (F, I, DFS, NL), he is even the clear No. 1 in the group of bulls with 99% reliability! With an impressive increase of 200 kg milk production (base adjusted) and a significant improvement of his conformation values, he increases his total breeding value by +2 RZG points to an impressive 146.

CARUSO was the biggest new surprise, realising an equally high RZG result with a flawless breeding value profile: Compared to his previous genomic result, he increased by an impressive 8 RZG points. Right from the start, he impressed with an extremely well-balanced breeding profile and promised medium-framed, flawless and udder-strong animals that are also suitable for robots. This has been fully confirmed in recent months – in particular by numerous strikingly good daughters that caused a stir both at auctions and at the EuroTier presentation.

As the highest polled bull in the German top list, SIMBA P now ranks 5th with 145 RZG (+5) and impresses in particular with good milk production with high components and thus > 120 F+E kg as well as excellent feet and legs. Also new in the Top 10 is SUNRISE with his first 31 daughters and almost unchanged RZG of 143. Further bulls in the Top 50 are the with 2141 highest RZ€ bull METRO (141 RZG), followed by DANIEL (+4 to 140 RZG), GATES (140 RZG), KENNY (138 RZG) and SUPREM (138 RZG) and shortly behind are MIRCO and CALVIN with 137 RZG.

SOLI-RED P is one of the highest newcomers in the Red Holstein daughterproven list with 137 RZG and secures 12th place, confirming his genomic breeding values with a high milk yield of +1844 kg, an outstanding feet and legs breeding value of 128 and very easy calvings (KVd 123). He is further supported in the Top 30 list by SIR-RED (again +3 RZG to 137 RZG) and ANDY-RED (132 RZG), who continue to rank stable.

Genomic Highlights

The Sunrise son SURFER keeps his gRZG unchanged at 155 and is thus the new No.1 of the OHG. His high milk yield also remains almost constant at +2258 kg and > 160 F+E kg, so this high production sire with a top health profile (117 gRZhealth and 115 gRZS) and A2A2 & BB in his pocket will remain in high demand. The OHG newcomer STITCH (Strong P x Foreman) ranks in the top list with 153 RZG and combines high production (+1638 kg milk) with top health breeding values (127 RZhealth), a high longevity (125 RZN) and good conformation (125 RZE). He also has an ideal robot suitability with 118 RZRobot. So far STITCH has no semen available. The very popular COMET has dropped slightly and now stands at 152 gRZG. Despite all this, he remains the ultimate for conformation lovers with gRZE 130 and a flawless linear profile that leaves nothing to be desired. SKIP (Skater x Migel) keeps his breeding value level stable at 152 gRZG and offers a very appealing linear profile in addition to a good milk production with a high RZE of 131. With more strength (115), medium size (102) and very good feet & legs (123) and udder (123) breeding values, he fits into many farms that want to compensate for slightly taller or narrower animals. The Rover son with red factor ROCKET RDC stands at 151 gRZG after the basic amortisation. SKIP’s full brother SKADI also remains constant at 150 RZG and shines with a high production of +1736 kg milk. With 117 RZRobot, he not only offers high suitability for automatic milking systems, but also ensures good mobility to the milking parlour with a feet & legs breeding value of 126, 122 for locomotion and high Mortellaro resistance (121 gDDcontrol). New to the OHG range is ARCTIC (Arizona x Bennie), who was bred by the Beyer farm. His dam, MissBennie, who traces back to the Sully Shottle May cow family, has developed into a top heifer and is classified VG-86. ARCTIC is one of the most promising of her 25 offspring. With an RZG of 148, the Arizona son offers good milk production with a high longevity (126 gRZN) and top fitness (123 gRZhealth) and thus promises very functional long-lasting cows.

MEGA-RED P

In the Red Holstein segment, MEGA-RED P remains in the top group with 152 gRZG as one of the most complete and attractive new bulls. In addition to a high milk yield of +1388 kg and positive components (+0.27 % fat and +0.07 % protein), MEGA-RED P also offers a convincing conformation profile in all respects with a medium rear leg angle (98), level and slightly wider rumps and firmly attached udders with slightly longer teats (108). He is currently an all-round attractive choice for many farms and is among the most popular OHG sires at the moment.
