GENIUS 266275 was purchased by OHG at the end of 2019 and was not in the top group at the time in terms of the ranking of all purchased bulls of the year and within his half-siblings. With his RZG, he was about 100th out of about 400 Gywer sons tested. However, he stood out due to his exceptionally good conformation profile and a top RZE value.
His attractive and faultless profile ensured that he was the No. 1 or 2 most used bull on OHG farms for three years in a row. After the introduction of health breeding values in April 2021, he rose slightly in the overall ranking and thus still had a remarkable value of 154 RZG at the end of 2021 (despite base adjustment). Due to the base adjustments in the following years, his breeding values then gradually decreased to 143 RZG in December 2023, which is the common developement of proofs over time.
At the International Osnabrueck Black & White Days in January 2024, his 10-strong offspring group was completely convincing in all respects. Despite the basic adjustment in April by 5 RZG points, he was able to improve significantly in the ranking with his first breeding value supplemented by daughter information and achieved a place in the top 100 for the first time in his career with 34th place. With his current August 2024 result, he improved again significantly to 144 RZG. This gave him a top 10 ranking for the first time with 8th place.
During EuroTier, where one of his daughters was presented at the stand, he was the most sought-after bull for semen orders, which is certainly unusual for a daughter-tested sire. In the current December poof he now has over 1,000 daughters in Germany and a further 600 in 4 different countries (F, I DFS, NL) and was thus able to increase his milk production by another 200 kg on a base-adjusted basis. At the same time, he increased his conformation values and thus improved again by +2 RZG points to currently 146, which not only gave him 3rd place in the overall list, but also the No.1 position on the list of bulls with 99% reliability!
Such a positive breeding value development is unusual and impressive, as most bulls are hardly of interest in the genomic age due to the rapid breeding progress when results from daughters are available.
Many OHG breeders who have used and continue to use this bull intensively are of course all the more pleased, especially as his daughters provide a great deal of satisfaction in all respects.
