With the start of spring 2026, the new breeding values are now available. The base for the April 2026 evaluations includes all cows born between January 2020 and December 2022. Due to the rolling base adjustment, an average genetic gain of 1.7 RZG points and 45 kg of milk has been deducted at this evaluation.

Proven Sires (Daughter-Proven Bulls)

The April breeding value estimation was once again very successful for OHG: with four bulls in the top 10 of the daughter-proven black-and-white Holstein ranking, no other breeding organization provides more elite sires – and this as the smallest in Germany.

  • The highest new daughter-proven OHG bull is now MIKE (Migel x Rafting) with 146 RZG. He offers an outstanding +2,456 kg of milk and, with 125 RZE, an excellent type profile with more strength than stature. With good milking speed, he also shows strengths in longevity (124 RZN) and udder health (127 RZS).

  • He is followed by GLARUS (Gladius x Hothand), also with his first daughters in production, at 143 RZG. This deep-black bull offers high milk yield, a fault-free linear profile, and strong longevity.
  • SIMBA P (142 RZG) and MIRCO (141 RZG) remain in the top 10: SIMBA P continues to be the highest-ranking polled bull, while MIRCO, with more than 2,200 daughters across several countries, is a reliable choice for high milk production and top-level conformation—this time even gaining +1 to 123 RZE despite the base adjustment.
  • In addition to these top sires, the newly listed Pikachu son PIETER (138 RZG) as well as the proven bulls GENIUS (137 RZG) and CARUSO (136 RZG) are also represented in the top 50.
  • In the Red Holstein segment, OHG also places two bulls in the top 10: SPOT-RED P (141 RZG) increases to over +2,700 kg milk, making him the highest milk sire, while MAGIC-RED (138 RZG) confirms his genomic values and impresses with high production and balanced conformation (125 RZE).

Genomic Highlights

  • The two top OHG sires REWARD and SURFSIDE, each at 157 RZG, rank within the genomic top 25. With an impressive +2,943 kg milk, 146 kg fat, and +86 kg protein, REWARD is the highest milk sire in Germany—combined with excellent suitability for robotic milking (125 RZRobot) and outstanding udders (129). With 3,129 RZ€, he is also OHG’s economic number one. SURFSIDE, a SURFER son, also offers an excellent overall package, including good robot suitability and balanced conformation (124 RZE).
  • MADDOX loses only the obligatory 2 points due to the base adjustment and now also stands at 157 RZG. As a true fitness specialist (130 RZGesund), he remains the top choice for longevity and productive life (133 RZN).
  • REBEL continues to be one of the highest and most interesting type sires in Germany with 141 RZE and 153 RZG. He offers +1,079 kg milk with positive components, good milking speed, and high robot suitability (128). He is also attracting strong interest in France, where he ranks among the top 25 with 212 ISU and excellent type values. Availability has also improved recently.

  • NEXTLEVEL remains the highest NEXO son at 152 RZG and, with 136 RZRobot, the undisputed number one for robotic milking. Due to his fault-free and well-balanced breeding value profile, he is currently the most in-demand OHG sire.
  • Also at 152 RZG is the COMET son CORMICK, who, with 137 RZE, ranks among the best type sires. Another COMET son in the OHG lineup is CODEX P, also carrying the polled gene, combining 149 RZG with solid milk production and complete conformation (123 RZE, 115 feet & legs, 126 udder).
  • Additional newcomers in the polled segment are the Sweet RDC son SIXT P RDC (151 RZG) and the Snip P RDC son SNOW P RDC (150 RZG).
  • Another new entry is SHERIFF (Shield x Rainow), combining 150 RZG with high milk yield, very strong components (182 kg fat + protein), and highly balanced conformation (130 RZE).
  • In the Red Holstein segment, READY-RED remains the highest OHG sire at 148 RZG. He is followed by the widely popular MEGA-RED P and the newcomer SAMU-RED P, both at 145 RZG. As the only available red polled Shield son, SAMU-RED P attracts special interest. He impresses with solid milk yield and clearly positive components (154 kg fat + protein), along with a very balanced linear profile featuring moderate rear leg set, longer teats, and good robot suitability (108 RZRobot). Another red newcomer is the homozygous polled bull SID-RED PP (Snip P RDC x Dragon P), achieving 145 RZG with a type value of 124 RZE.
