The breeding values are very stable – making our breeding philosophy a safety and reliable choice for any farmer. The genetic progress in Germany is high. Accordingly, the annual base adjustments were significantly for Holstein in April 2022 again:

This means, that proof results with a change of -5 RZG are stable and only “optically” changed.
Daughter proven bulls
SUPREM, with RZG 148 the highest daughter proven OHG bull, is now exactly -5 RZG points lower than in December and continues to rank among Germany’s top 10. He confirms tremendous > 2000 kg milk and slightly improved milk components, but also shows no weaknesses in the fitness and health traits. By the way, Suprem is by far the best daughter fertility improver of all German top proven production bulls. His RZE reaches “only” 105, but with wide rumps, ideal leg setting and longer teats Suprem (BB, A2A2) offers a sought-after alternative for many matings.
Even a positive breeding value development is realized by FELIX (aAa 534), who can improve in the milk components and in particular in all conformation traits (RZE +5), especially for feet & legs, udder and body. With the remarkable level of RZG 141 Felix (BB, A2A2) ranks among Germany’s top 30 and among Germany’s top 10 bulls with > 500 daughters.
The highest OHG newcomer and perhaps one of the most complete and balanced bulls in the daughter proven segment is the Red Factor carrier ESSEX RDC, who can fully confirm his top values for feet & legs and udder as well as his very good fitness and health values with average milk yield. Also his values for RZRobot and daughter fertility increased significantly through his first daughter information. At the last monthly OHG livestock auctions, his daughters made a positive impression with accordingly high sales prices due to their clear legs and top udders. Essex belongs to the top fertility sires with +4% NR.
Germany’s former #1 daughter proven sire SINUS (and still among Germany’s top 20 bulls with > 500 daughters) is still the highest daughter proven fertility sire with +5% NR and at the same RZG level as Essex. SULTAN (RZG 134) improved strongly in milk, fat and protein kg (RZM +4) despite the base adjustment. Among the daughter proven homozygous polled bulls, HOLO PP is now the highest OHG bull with RZG 126 (aAa 351) and one of Germany’s top 3 PP bulls for robotic milking.
ANDY-RED – the new highlight for Red Holstein
With his strong increase for conformation, especially feet & legs (+9), and longevity, the OHG bull ANDY-RED (aAa 513) is the highest and at the same time most complete newcomer in Germany and reaches an excellent #3 position with RZG 140. His strengths are certainly the high milk components and the extremely complete and flawless breeding value profile, both in terms of fitness, calving ease, mortellaro resistance, robustness and conformation. Overall, ANDY-RED (A2A2) should become one of the most sought-after daughter-proven Red Holstein bulls.
Genomic bulls
With gRZG 159, the top production sire SUNRISE (BB, A2A2) is one of the highest available genomically tested bulls in Germany at all. He improves lifetime production, feed efficiency, all health traits and daughter calving ease significantly. In the Netherlands SUNRISE is ranked #5 with NVI 393, in Spain even #2 worldwide with ICO 5275.
MIRCO improves slightly in combination of gRZG 155, gRZE 131 and gRZhealth 120. With his values for gRZRobot, herdlife and calving ease he is in high demand in many countries. In Italy, MIRCO reaches outstanding PFT 4739.
The very complete calving ease sire CALVIN (BB, A2A2) remains absolutely stable with 153 gRZG as highest Casino son in Germany. The still young component sire SUNSET (Superfly x Gymnast) is already used in Scandinavia as sire of sons with NTM 36. RADIUS (Radar x Hagar), the actual #1 OHG sire for production (gRZM 153) and milking speed (gRZD 113), reaches the same genetic level of gRZG 153 as third bull.
SIMBA P and SUNNY P (both BB, A2A2 and top fertility sires with +4 NR%) swapped their places this time among the OHG polled bulls. CARUSO, the #1 for daughter fertility with gRZR 129, and a top fertility sire himself, has the strongest increase relatively of all genomically tested OHG bulls. With his enormous breeding value of +110 kg fat (at +1274 kg milk and +0.52% fat) METRO is the #1 in Germany. The allrounder SUSSEX (A2A2) remains stable with also gRZG 150. With +5% NR this highest Suprem son shows a tremendous fertility.
The very complete GENIUS (aAa 345) is a very popular sire in the OHG area. With his strong breeding values especially for many “problem traits” like strength, rump angle and width, teat length and placement, but also his high RZhealth, easy calvings, sire fertility (+4% NR) and his tremendous conformation (gRZE 136) his popularity will continue for sure.
Red Holstein
For Red Holstein, the calving ease sire and longevity specialist ASCO-RED (Atop x Anreli, A2A2) belongs to the German top group with currently gRZG 152. SOLI-RED P, the #1 for feed efficiency at OHG, is one of the highest fertility sire (+5% NR) in Germany and also polled bull for Red Holstein with gRZG 151. For homozygous polled, the component specialist and popular allrounder SKY-RED PP will enjoy great popularity further on.
